As back to school is around the corner we like to take a second to celebrate last ( school) year's achievements. In Spring 2026, Up-Fuse brought its hands-on experience in circular design into the classroom through the Sustainable Fashion Design course at The American University in Cairo (AUC).

Led by Up-Fuse co-founder Yara Yassin, the course introduced students to sustainability, circular design, material innovation, responsible production, and the realities of building products around waste. Moving beyond theory, students explored the full journey from materials and design thinking to prototyping and implementation, learning from Up-Fuse’s experience of more than a decade working within Egypt’s circular fashion ecosystem.

The course was designed to encourage a new generation of designers to see waste not simply as an environmental problem, but as a creative constraint and a starting point for better design.
